YEAR 5 - Bikeability Level 1 Permission Slip Y5

Dear parent/carer,

Jersey Sport will be going into schools to deliver our Cycle programme to Year 5 children, similar to the old cycling proficiency.  This year we will be starting with assessments to determine the level of each individual child. For the children who can ride a bike, competently they will be offered the chance to take part in the Level 1 which will be run in the school playground. The course is designed to improve rider’s confidence on the bike and prepare them for making safe journeys by themselves. Please note, all bikes and helmets will be provided for the assessments.

This is an opt in activity and we hope that you would agree to allow your child to take part.  All young people partaking in the activity will need to have a bike in good working order and a helmet.  If you are unable to get access to a bike and or helmet, then please let us know and we will arrange for one to be borrowed.  We ask that the bikes are checked to be in a good working order before they are bought into school and have a bike check list below.  Please let us know your child’s ability on the bike.  Please note, for children who cannot ride a bike, Jersey Sport offer Learn to Ride sessions during holiday periods.
